A Café Reader Review: Ridiculously Easy Press-In Tart Crust

Hi, Reader!

Hi [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]!

"I cheat!" That's what I've told people my entire adult life whenever someone compliments something from my kitchen. I mean, I don't exactly cheat, but it kind of feels that way when Chris is your mom.

Growing up, there just wasn't much of a need to learn to cook because she surprise, surprise, she LOVED doing it. So when I got married, I was clueless. I'd invite people over for dinner and then call her in a panic: "What do I make?!"

Two and a half decades in, I can at least pick my own menu without a 911 call to Mom. But anytime someone raves over something at my house, I feel this immediate need to confess my secret and make sure they know they can do it too!

And now that I work for the blog? I'll be honest, it's also a little bit of shameless advertising 😂

The recipe I'm sharing today is the perfect example of a recipe that saves people like me....4 kids, a job, a million things going on...but still with a genuine desire to pull off something that looks and tastes like I tried really hard. Not because I want to show off but because I want to make someone feel seen & special!

This Press-In Tart Crust is one of those recipes. No food processor to clean, no chilling the dough, no rolling anything out. Just press it into the pan and you're done. It works beautifully for sweet and savory, with only 5 minutes of hands on time. 5 minutes! We all have that, right?

Yes, yes- you could absolutely grab a crust from the store. But in basically the same amount of it would take to go get it, this one could be in the pan and ready to rock. It really is SO much better.

Speaking of, read Michele's comment below:)

Michele says....
I never, ever make homemade crusts of any kind because they never turn out -- EVER -- no matter how hard I try. But I was desperate yesterday for a crust so that I could use up some peaches which were starting to turn and didn't have time to run to the store. I searched and found this recipe and decided to go for it but was expecting another disaster, as always. Nope! This was easy and perfect and totally delicious. It will now be my go-to crust for sweet and savory dishes. And the fact I didn't have to dirty my food processor and all if its parts was an added bonus. Note: I did add some crushed pecan pieces to the dough which worked out nicely with the peach and bourbon filling! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

I mean peaches with bourbon filling and crushed pecans pressed right into the crust? That sounds DELISH. You might have just inspired our next recipe 🙌

Haven't quite convinced you to give it a try? Keeping reading....

Perfect recipe! I used two batches of this crust recipe to make a 9" tart and 12 mini tarts. The crusts were perfect! I sifted my dry ingredients and used the food processor pulse method to bring it all together instead of combining the ingredients by hand, but stayed true to the recipe otherwise. I think these would also make delicate cookies! So yummy!

I've made this crust several times now and it is just fabulous! Lives up to it's name. If I can do it, anyone can!

These sweet words of encouragement are what keep us going here at The Café. So thank YOU 🤍

A peek into our kitchen...the recipes our team makes again and again! To London, to London... As many of you know, in 2009 our not-so-little family packed up and headed across the pond, where we spent the next eight years living in London. 2009: Our 3yo, 2yo, 2mo old in front of Big Ben (safe to say this mama had her hands full!) Even though we've been back stateside for nearly 10 years, there are still funny little things we say and do because of those years abroad. Today’s Best Bites is...

A yogurt parfait topped with double almond paleo granola and fresh berries

Hi, Reader! Hi [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]! I'll be honest with you: unlike Chris, who is always dreaming up something new in the kitchen, when I find a recipe that just works, I stick with it. No experimenting, no tweaking, no searching for the next best thing. And this Double Almond Paleo Granola has earned its permanent spot in my rotation. Although no one in my family follows a Paleo diet, this is the only granola we keep around (I mean...something all 4 kids like? yes please!). It tastes...
